Chanda A. Bell was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a best-selling author, Executive Producer, Writer, and Director. Bell is the Co-CEO and Chief Creative Officer of CCA and B, LLC, a global IP and entertainment company.
Bell's writing career began in 2004 when she convinced her mother, Carol Aebersold, to co-author a book about their family tradition of a Scout Elf. Despite initial rejections from publishers, Bell and Aebersold self-published the book, enlisting the talents of local watercolorist Coë Steinwart to illustrate the story. With the help of her twin sister, Christa Pitts, they formed CCA and B, LLC to market and publish the book.
The book, "The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition," became a best-seller, and Bell's company progressed from selling books out of car trunks to placing products in major retailers. The keepsake box featuring a charming tale and a magical Scout Elf from the North Pole became a timeless Christmas tradition.
Bell also co-founded Big Canoe Entertainment with partners to write and produce "An Elf's Story," the first animated tale based on The Elf on the Shelf property. The special debuted on CBS and has been viewed by a combined audience of over 30 million people.
In 2017, Bell co-founded Scout Elf Productions with Christa Pitts and Carol V. Aebersold to produce animated stories about Santa's North Pole. The company released "Elf Pets: Santa's St. Bernards Save Christmas" in 2018, and Bell served as the executive producer, director, and screenwriter. She also wrote and directed "Elf Pets: A Fox Cub's Christmas Tale" in 2019, which was praised by Common Sense media for its endearing characters, buoyant animation, and joyful original tunes.
