Biography

Cecilia Parker, a Canadian-born actress, was the daughter of a British army officer. Her family relocated to Hollywood when she was just a child. Following her high school graduation, Parker secured a job as an extra, working in this capacity for approximately a year. Her hard work and dedication eventually caught the attention of Fox executives, who signed her to a contract in 1931.

Parker's career progressed steadily, although not spectacularly, until 1937. That year, she was signed by MGM to play the older sister of Mickey Rooney in the iconic "Andy Hardy" series. This role would become the defining characteristic of her acting career, as she appeared in numerous films within the franchise.

In addition to her work in the "Andy Hardy" series, Parker also appeared in a variety of other genres, including westerns and jungle serials. However, it's her portrayal of the older sister in the "Andy Hardy" series that she is most remembered for.

At some point during her time at MGM, Parker must have given the studio executives some trouble, as she was "loaned" (or exiled) to the ultra-low-rent studio PRC for one film in 1941. This was a fate typically reserved for actors who had displeased the higher-ups at the studios.

Despite this setback, Parker was able to make amends with MGM and continued to work with the studio, appearing in five more films before her retirement in 1942. She returned to the big screen one final time in 1958 for an "Andy Hardy" film, but ultimately decided to focus on her real estate business, which she operated alongside her husband in Ventura, California.

Parker passed away in 1993, leaving behind a legacy as a talented actress who was most notable for her role in the "Andy Hardy" series.
