Cecilia Frode's journey in the world of performing arts began at Malmö Theatre Academy in Sweden, where she pursued her education from 1991 to 1994. Her breakthrough on stage came in 1996 when she starred in a production of Shakespeare's "As you like it" at Göteborgs Stadsteater.
Since then, Cecilia has taken on numerous leading roles on stage in Sweden, showcasing her incredible talent and range. Her most recent performances were at the Playhouse Theater in Stockholm, where she portrayed the lead roles of Rosalind Franklin in "Photograph 51" and Claire in "Apologia".
In addition to her stage work, Cecilia has received numerous awards and nominations for her film and television performances. In 2003, she won the Guldbaggen, Sweden's equivalent of the Academy Award, for best supporting actress for her role in "Klassfesten". She received the Angela Award for outstanding acting at the European film festival Subtitles in Kilkenny, Ireland in 2015 for her performance in "Stockholm Stories".
Cecilia has played a wide range of roles in feature films, including "Sthlm Rekviem", "Tårtgeneralen", and "Stockholm Stories", as well as in TV-series such as "Blå ögon", "Coacherna", and "God morgon alla barn". One of her most notable roles was as the female lead, Vilma, in the popular Swedish TV-series "Mäklarna", which premiered in 2006 and earned her a nomination for the Golden Nymph at the Monte Carlo TV festival for Outstanding actress-comedy series.
The sequel to "Mäklarna", which follows Vilma 15 years later, was recently released in 2021. Cecilia has also ventured into writing, composing music for, and producing one-woman-theater-shows, including "Ängelen" and "A tail in the sky", which both received critical acclaim and went on national tours in Sweden. The shows were also adapted for broadcast on Swedish national TV.
In 2017, Cecilia wrote and starred in the musical theatre show "From the blue cabinet", which was produced by Musik i Syd and went on tour in Sweden. Throughout her career, Cecilia has consistently pushed the boundaries of her craft, showcasing her incredible talent and versatility as a performer.
