Cathryn Dylan Ortiz, a talented Mexican American actress, was born and raised in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, California, by her mother, the accomplished actress Ana Alicia Ortiz, and her father, the renowned producer Gary R. Benz.
Growing up, Cathryn was nurtured on the stage and the soccer field, developing her passion for performance and athleticism from a young age. Her academic pursuits led her to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where she received the esteemed Excellence in Acting award from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Since graduating from college, Cathryn has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry, landing roles on popular television shows such as "Grey's Anatomy", "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit", and "Ray Donovan". In 2018, she had the opportunity to work on a pilot for Fox 21 and Hulu, based on Brett Easton Ellis's debut novel "Less Than Zero".
In addition to her television work, Cathryn has also made her mark on the stage, originating the role of Mary Jo Kopechne in Peter Lefcourt's world premiere of "The Death and Life of Mary Jo Kopechne" at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles.
Cathryn is deeply committed to her mission of promoting mental health awareness, particularly among youth, and is currently in development of an untitled feature film inspired by Amy Challen's article "Living and Dying on TikTok".
