Catherine Dudley-Rose, the talented daughter of renowned Canadian concert pianist Raymond Dudley, began her artistic journey at a young age. As a violinist, she won numerous awards and performed for notable figures such as Tony Randall, Itzhak Perlman, and the Pope. Simultaneously, she attended the Governor's School for the Arts in Drama, where she was selected to act alongside Sam Waterston.
With a modest sum of $100, her violin, and a few plays, Catherine moved to New York City, where she joined The Red Earth Ensemble, a non-profit theatre company in Soho. The company, sponsored by Joanne Woodward, became her creative home for seven years, during which she wrote, directed, acted, and produced numerous productions.
Catherine's experience with The Red Earth Ensemble laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She went on to teach Meisner acting technique alongside John Patrick Shanley and Rob Morrow at Vassar's New York Stage and Film Program. Her feature screenplay, which combines classical music with modern sounds and jazz as the bridge, received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and was optioned by several production companies.
As a writer, director, and producer, Catherine has been commissioned to write screenplays, composes music using her violin and piano skills, and has been a teaching artist for the Broadway Theatre Institute. She is also the team leader for the National Film Challenge, which won the "Best Fantasy Film" award for her short film, "Farewell."
Catherine's award-winning short film, "Parallel Chords (Overture)," screened over 30 times in 2015-2016, winning several accolades, including "Best of Fest," "Best Sound," "Excellence in Music," and "Curator's Pick." The feature film, "Parallel Chords," was selected for several festivals and won awards for "Best Cinematography," "Best Production Design," "Best Narrative Feature," and "Best Feature Writer."
Catherine was nominated for the 2018 Emerging Director / New Filmmaker's Forum at the St. Louis International Film Festival and later served as the Jury Chair for the same festival. Her feature film, "Parallel Chords," was released theatrically in Los Angeles in 2019 and has international distribution. She is currently developing several new feature films and is the creator of a new dramatic series about artists and activists in St. Louis and beyond, entitled "Broken Strings."
