Caroline Raynaud is a talented and versatile French actress, born in Orléans, who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning across the globe, she currently splits her time between Paris, New York, and Toronto.
Raynaud's journey in the industry began when she was discovered by director Olivier Dahan in a pub on the Champs-Élysées. She was cast in the role of Ginou, best friend of Edith Piaf, in the film La Môme (2007),alongside Marion Cotillard.
Her first performance was at the age of 10, where she played the role of Viola in an adaptation of Twelfth Night. Since then, Raynaud has demonstrated her range by taking on a variety of genres and languages, effortlessly moving between French and English speaking roles.
Some of her notable roles include Alexia, the daughter-in-law of Michèle Laroque, in The Merry Widow/Enfin Veuve (2008),directed by Isabelle Mergault; Paule Fétiveau, a nurse in the Beaune La Rolande concentration camp, alongside Mélanie Laurent and Jean Reno in La Rafle (2010),directed by Rose Bosch; and Juliette with Nicolas Duvauchelle in la blonde aux seins nus (2010),directed by Manuel Pradal.
Raynaud has also worked on several experimental and independent projects, including the lead role in Stardust (2011),a gore movie directed by Sandy Depretz and shot in Finland. She has collaborated with director Guillaume Levil on multiple projects, including the short film Tour de Cheville (2014),which has been selected for over 70 festivals and 15 prizes.
In addition to her film work, Raynaud has also made a name for herself in the Canadian production scene. Her first Canadian production, Fishing in the Moonlight (2016),was awarded best short film at the 2017 Cannes short film festival. She has also appeared in the zombie reality show The Last Zombie (2017),directed by Anthony Lecomte, and the Canadian horror sci-fi feature Project Ithaca (2019),directed by Nicholas Humphries.
Recent projects include playing Brigitte Abernathy in the psychological thriller The Boathouse (2021),directed by Hannah Cheesman, and appearing alongside Ron Perlman in the feature film The Baker (post-production),directed by Jonathan Sobol.
Outside of her acting career, Raynaud enjoys singing in the shower (mezzo soprano) and painting. She is not a vegetarian, practices yoga regularly, and frequently vacations at the seaside village where she spent her childhood summers.
