Carlos R. Bermudez was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he spent his formative years developing a strong foundation for his future endeavors. He later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended Las Salle University and earned his degree.
After completing his education, Bermudez began his career as a writer in 1988, thanks in large part to the guidance and support of renowned television creator Gary David Goldberg. This opportunity marked the beginning of a long and successful writing career for Bermudez.
In 1995, Bermudez received his first writing assignment for the NBC pilot "Valdez," which starred Cheech Marin and Bill Macy. This project served as a springboard for Bermudez's future success, as he went on to create the first original Spanish-language sitcom produced in Hollywood, "Los Beltran."
As the Executive Producer and head writer for this critically acclaimed series, Bermudez's hard work and dedication paid off, earning him a Golden Eagle Award, an Alma Award, an Imagen Award, and two GLAAD Award nominations in just two years.
In addition to his work on "Los Beltran," Bermudez has also been consulting on the Emmy Award-winning PBS series "A Place of Our Own" for the past two years.
In 2009, Bermudez sold his first feature film script, "The Miracle of Spanish Harlem," which was produced in New York City by Vista Clara Productions in January 2010. He has two additional feature films, "Ticket to Heaven" and "Hollywood Can Wait," in production with D Street Films.
Throughout his career, Bermudez has consistently demonstrated his talent and dedication to his craft, earning him numerous accolades and recognition within the industry.
