Carlos Quintanilla is a multifaceted Mexican artist with expertise spanning across screenwriting, stage direction, acting, and professorship. For the past two decades, he has worked on and developed a wide range of projects for various platforms and networks, collaborating with prominent media giants such as Netflix, Televisa, TV Azteca, Sony Teleset, El Mall, Lemon Studios, Blind Spot Pictures, and Amazon Prime Video.
Some of his most notable works include Control Z (Netflix, 2020),Rosario Tijeras (TV Azteca, 2016),Sin Rastro De Ti (Televisa, 2016),Mujeres Asesinas (Televisa, 2010),La Bandida (Amazon Prime, 2019),A Corazón Abierto (TV Azteca, 2012),El Equipo (Televisa, 2011),Lucho en Familia (TV Azteca, 2011),and Los Rey (TV Azteca, 2012).
Born and raised in Mexico City on May 11, 1984, Quintanilla pursued his passion for acting by enrolling in the acting program offered by TV Azteca's CEFAC, graduating with honors. He further honed his screenwriting skills at the Writers Center in TV Azteca and acquired extensive knowledge in theatre under the guidance of industry icons Héctor Mendoza and Ludwik Margules.
Quintanilla's notable achievements include receiving the Best Theatre Director award in New York City in 2015 for his direction of Woody Allen's play Infidelidades. He also served as Content Director at Televisa and led their famous Telenovela Scriptwriting Course at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
As a professor, Quintanilla has taught a diverse range of subjects, including acting, text analysis, theatre, and dramatic structure. He was formerly the Vice-president of Research & Development at Lemon Studios, where he created and headed the writing team for Control Z, a Netflix Original project. Currently, he serves as the Director of Future Original Development for NBCUNIVERSAL Telemundo Global Studios.
Additionally, Quintanilla directs a year-long capacitation program titled The ABC's of Showrunning at the prestigious CENTRO, an institution for higher education in design communication, film, digital media, and architecture. This program aims to cultivate a new generation of creators and showrunners, paving the way for a new era of LATAM media.
