Biography

Carlo Verdone is widely regarded as the successor to the legendary Alberto Sordi, particularly evident in their collaborations on films such as "Troppo forte" and "In viaggio con papa", where numerous similarities with Sordi were strikingly apparent. These similarities included the use of a popular, colloquial language, the distinctive Roman dialect, and the embodiment of the quintessential Italian middle-class man in the 1980s, a role that Sordi had mastered in the 1950s and 1960s.

In recent years, Verdone's films have effectively captured the anxieties and neuroses of the modern Italian male. Notably, he is the brother-in-law of Christian de Sica, and his father is a respected Italian university professor of cinema history, known for his expertise in the subject.
