Native of St. Louis, Missouri, Carla Renata, a distinguished graduate of Howard University, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism, followed by post-graduate studies in Writing and Public Relations at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
This accomplished actress made history by becoming the only performer to recur on four network shows simultaneously in one episodic season, a remarkable feat she achieved twice. Moreover, she recently completed a five-season run on the hit NBC sitcom "Superstore".
As an Emmy-nominated voice-over artist, Carla has lent her talents to various promotional campaigns, video games, and national commercials. Her impressive stage credits include starring as Gary Coleman in the Tony Award-winning musical "Avenue Q", the original Los Angeles company of "The Lion King", and numerous other Broadway productions.
Furthermore, Carla is the host and creator of "The Curvy Critic with Carla Renata", a highly respected film expert and critic, and a member of several esteemed organizations, including the Critics Choice Association, African American Film Critics Association, Alliance of Women Film Journalists, Online Association of Female Film Critics, and the Tomatometer-approved critic on Rotten Tomatoes.
