Buster Larsen, a renowned and beloved Danish actor, was born Axel Landing Larsen, later changing his name to Buster Larsen. Born in Copenhagen, his talent for acting was recognized from a young age.
As a child, he began acting at the age of 8, making his debut at "Politikens Børneteater". Later, he acted at the theatre in Nørrebro and Aalborg, and worked in many theatres throughout Denmark.
Larsen's film debut came in 1933, as a naughty schoolboy in the movie "De blaadrenge", when he was just 12 years old. He went on to have many roles in different movies in the 1940s and 1950s, but it wasn't until 1959 that he achieved major breakthrough with his own TV series, "Cirkus Buster", where he played the central figure as a circus director.
"Cirkus Buster" was a huge success, running from 1959 to 1961 and spawning comedic and acting talent, including the well-known Danish actor Tommy Kenter, who was discovered by Larsen. The show was later made into a feature film, also titled "Cirkus Buster", directed by Erik Balling.
Larsen was a frequent guest on the Danish satire program "Hov Hov", where he became famous for making a caricature of a well-known Danish politician, Erhard Jacobsen. In 1971, he acted in Ludvig Holberg's play "Jeppe på Bjerget", which brought him much recognition.
In the 1970s, he acted in many well-known movies, including "Hovedjægerne", "Kassen stemmer", "Olsen-banden ser rødt", and "Hærværk". In 1978, he landed a major part in the Danish TV-epic "Matador" as the down-to-earth hog dealer Oluf Larsen, which brought him even more fame.
In the 1980s, Larsen acted in the Danish mini-TV series "Bustersverden", which was so successful that it was made into a feature film, "Busters verden", in 1984. He also worked on several notable movies, including "Jeppe på bjerget", "Midt omnatten", and "Pelle erobreren", directed by Bille August.
Larsen's last work includes the two popular children's movies, "Krummerne" and "Krummerne 2: Stakkels Krumme", which became his last film. He passed away on December 18, 1993.
