Buffalo Bob Smith, a beloved pioneer in the world of television, was the co-creator and host of the iconic children's show "Howdy Doody" from 1947 to 1960, with the exception of a brief hiatus in 1954 due to a near-fatal heart attack.
With his warm and friendly demeanor, combined with the antics of the show's puppet and human cast, Smith effortlessly won over the hearts of America's baby-boomer children, a connection that remains strong to this day.
After a decade of semi-retirement following the show's cancellation in September 1960, Smith made a triumphant comeback on the college campus circuit in the early 1970s, including a sold-out performance at New York City's legendary rock palace, "The Fillmore East".
Throughout his life, Smith continued to make sporadic but successful appearances in television, film, and in person, until his eventual passing. Although he attempted to revive "Howdy Doody" as a regular series in 1976, the endeavor ultimately proved unsuccessful.
Throughout his life, Smith was married to his wife for over 50 years and had three children.
