Bruce Law, a renowned Hong Kong stunt maestro, has an impressive list of credits that includes iconic films such as John Woo's The Killer and Hardboiled, Jackie Chan's Supercop, Thunderbolt, CZ 12, and Police Story 2013, as well as Donnie Yen's Special ID and Iceman Cometh.
Born in Guangzhou, Bruce arrived in Hong Kong at the age of 8 months and began training in martial arts at an early age, mastering various styles including Taekwondo, Shaolin Kung Fu, and Choy Li Fut, before transitioning to Thai Boxing.
His lifelong passion for fast cars and bikes led him to join Jackie Chan's Police Story as a stunt biker, launching his cinematic career. Bruce distinguished himself from other Hong Kong stuntmen by bringing a unique skill set to the industry, along with a desire to learn and innovate.
As a stuntman, Bruce recognized the importance of physical strength, courage, and knowledge of the craft. He learned about explosives, special equipment, and automobiles, becoming a well-rounded action director in the process.
Throughout his nearly 30-year career, Bruce has contributed to over 280 films, documentaries, TV series, and commercial productions as a stunt performer, coordinator, pyrotechnic expert, special effects specialist, action director, and director. He has received multiple nominations for Best Action Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards and won the Best Action Director award at the 3rd Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards China in 2014.
Bruce has collaborated with prominent directors such as John Woo, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, and Michael Mann, and has worked on international projects including Mission Impossible 3, The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Man of Tai Chi, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.
One of his most notable projects is the action thriller Extreme Crisis, which he directed and choreographed in 1998. The film features high-octane action sequences, including a dramatic car explosion scene on Hong Kong's Charter Road.
