Biography

Bruce Boxleitner is a renowned actor who has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry. Born in the Midwest, he received his formal acting training on stage and is an alumnus of Chicago's prestigious Goodman Theatre.

Boxleitner's early career saw him starring in numerous feature films and television series, including the Broadway production of Status Quo Vadis with Ted Danson. He also appeared in guest roles on popular TV shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Hawaii Five-O, Baretta, Police Woman, and Gunsmoke.

His big break came when he was cast in the pilot for the epic TV series How the West Was Won, opposite James Arness. He went on to star in the CBS series Bring 'Em Back Alive, mini-series East of Eden, and TV movie The Last Convertible.

In 1982, Boxleitner landed the title role in Disney's cult film Tron, which garnered him a global following. He then starred in the popular TV series Scarecrow and Mrs. King, opposite Kate Jackson, for four years, making him a household name.

Boxleitner's subsequent roles included Babylon 5, Tron: Legacy, and Tron: Uprising. He has also appeared in numerous films, such as Gods and Generals, The Babe, Kuffs, and The Baltimore Bullet.

Throughout his career, Boxleitner has demonstrated his versatility by taking on a wide range of roles in television and film. He has also made appearances in numerous TV movies, including The Secret, Perfect Family, Double Jeopardy, and Hallmark Channel movies.

As a skilled horseman, Boxleitner has utilized his talents in numerous western TV series and films, including The Gambler, Gunsmoke, Red River, Wyatt Earp: Return to Tombstone, and Louis L'Amour's Down the Long Hills.

In 2012, Boxleitner was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, honoring his illustrious career in western films. He is a two-time recipient of the Wrangler Award.

In 2013, Boxleitner co-starred with Andie MacDowell and Dylan Neal in Hallmark Channel's first-ever prime-time series, Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove, to rave reviews and an average of 2 million viewers.

Boxleitner has also ventured into writing, authoring two science fiction novels, "Frontier Earth" and its sequel "Frontier Earth: Searcher".

Today, Boxleitner resides in Los Angeles with his wife, publicist Verena King, and has three sons: Sam, Lee, and Michael.
