Biography

Brad Carr has had an extensive career in the film and television industry, having worked on over 279 productions across multiple departments. Growing up, he was exposed to the world of film from a young age, watching second-run movies like "Tank" and "Dune" with his father, a retired Air Force Colonel. His first experience on a film set came when visiting the original "Robocop" filming in Dallas.

As a child, Brad was also fascinated by politics, with his step-father being the former Mayor of Ottawa, Canada. However, it was during his freshman year at Lake Forest High School that he discovered his passion for writing, particularly in the realm of fictional storytelling. He also became actively involved in the school's theater program, working in stagecraft and acting.

As he progressed through high school, Brad continued to develop his skills in telecommunications and drama, eventually producing and directing short videos. He was consistently recognized for his work, sweeping the in-class "Telecom" awards. After graduating in 1998, Brad took a summer film program at Columbia College in Chicago.

At the age of 18, Brad moved to Hillsborough, California, where he attended the College of San Mateo, earning an associate's degree in directing. He also received special recognition for his contributions to the University, having run the Universal Film Club and earning a BFA in directing motion pictures. During his time at the Academy, Brad worked as a camera operator on wedding videos and for an audio visual hotel event company, Swank Audio Visuals.

Brad's experience with Swank A/V led to him being commissioned to create a corporate video, and he also performed with the San Francisco Taiko Dojo, a Japanese drumming group. He was often approached by peer filmmakers to play lead roles in their films and was urged by teachers to consider acting as a career. In addition, Brad focused on writing and directing his own projects, including the short film "Nighthawk".

In 2004, Brad interned for San Francisco City Hall and regularly attended Film Commission meetings, persistently seeking work as a Production Assistant. He was eventually hired as a staff office PA on "Rent", a set PA on "Pursuit of Happyness", and an Art PA on "Zodiac". Using his experience as an audio visual technician, Brad also did a significant amount of permit work for IATSE Local 16.

In 2006, Brad moved to Los Angeles, where he has spent the last decade developing projects and working extensively in the camera, grip, and electric departments.
