Together, they starred in nine comedies between 1916 and 1917, with some of their most memorable performances being in films such as "Teddy at the Throttle" (1917),which also co-starred Wallace Beery, Gloria Swanson's husband.
As the sound era arrived in the late 1920s, Vernon continued to work in the film industry, starring in three more films before eventually retiring from acting. However, his love for comedy and entertainment did not fade, and he went on to become a writer and comedy supervisor at Paramount Pictures, working with legendary comedians such as W.C. Fields and Bing Crosby.
