Bob Destri Hilgenberg, a multifaceted individual with a career spanning multiple realms, began his journey as a writer and performer with The Groundlings and Second City, Los Angeles. This marked the starting point of his ascent to fame, with numerous film and television appearances that would later serve as a springboard for his future endeavors.
It was during his time at Second City that Bob met Rob Muir, a partnership that would eventually blossom into a formidable writing duo. Together, they began crafting comedic sketches, which soon transitioned into feature film writing. Their collaborative efforts yielded a string of comedy rewrites and pitch sales, with major studios taking notice of their work.
To date, Bob and Rob have written on over 35 studio projects, a testament to their impressive output and versatility. Their most recent endeavors include The Untitled Molly Shannon Project, a re-edit of Hey Mike, The Family Circus, and Meet The Haunteds, among others.
Notable mentions include their work on I Love You Again, a remake of the 1940 classic comedy starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, as well as their original screenplay Scared Guys, which is still in development at Sony Pictures.
Bob and Rob's path to success was punctuated by several significant milestones. In 2005, they were hired to write Monsters Inc. 2 and Toy Story 3 for Walt Disney Pictures, an experience that would forever alter their trajectory. They also penned the first draft of the Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo family comedy "Yours, Mine & Ours" for MGM/Paramount.
Prior to their Disney assignments, they wrote the comedy short film Hiding In Walls, which starred Jane Lynch and Danny Trejo. This award-winning project satirized their experiences as Hollywood screenwriters. Their television writing credits include the produced pilot "Grown-Ups" for Columbia/Tri-Star Television, which featured an ensemble cast.
