Blanca Rosa Blanco was born on February 24, 1972, in Havana, Cuba, and graduated from the Faculty of Performing Arts at The University of Arts of Cuba / Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in 1995.
During her college years, she was cast in various theatre plays under the direction of renowned professors and theatre directors, including Vicente Revuelta, José Antonio Rodríguez, and Roberto Blanco. These plays, such as "La historia de un antiguo encanto", "Los invitados del rey", "Ubu Rey", "El Perro del Otelano", and classic theatre like Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, played a crucial role in consolidating her training as an actress.
After college, she joined the theatre group Buscón, performing in productions like "Cuentos de amor", "humor y muerte", and "La historia de un escaparate". She also participated in theatre workshops led by Eugenio Barba and took part in the "Elsinor" festivals held at the ISA. During this period, she contributed to the magazine Albur by publishing theatre scripts, stories, and poems.
Following her graduation from ISA, she joined the theater group "Irrumpe", directed by Roberto Blanco, where she spent five years honing her craft. This experience served as a solid foundation for her future work in television and film.
After an extensive career in theatre, Blanca Rosa transitioned to television, appearing in soap operas, crime drama television series, adventures, festival presentations, and musical events. She also worked on comedic miniseries and other genres. Her most notable role was as Chief Monica in the crime drama series "Tras la Huella". Additionally, she hosted TV shows like "Ecos de Mujer", the Lucas award ceremonies, and the Cubadisco Festival.
Blanca Rosa has also made a mark in Cuban cinema, starring in films such as "Páginas del Diario de Mauricio", "El Premio Flaco", "Habanastation", "Lisanka", and "Juan de los Muertos", among others.
In 2017, she made history by becoming the first woman in Cuba to direct, write, and star in a feature-length film, "El Regreso". She has also taught acting courses at ISA and worked as a model for photographer Roberto Salas.
