Bjarne Mädel's life journey began in Hamburg, Germany, where he spent his formative years before embarking on a transatlantic adventure to California. There, he pursued his passion for world literature and creative writing, laying the groundwork for a future in the arts.
After his time in California, Mädel returned to Germany to further his education, enrolling in a program focused on theater and literature at the University of Erlangen. This decision marked a significant turning point in his life, as it ultimately led him to the esteemed Potsdam Academy of Dramatic Arts, where he underwent rigorous acting training and graduated in 1996.
Mädel's professional acting career began in 1996, when he made his debut at the Volkstheater Rostock. For three years, he honed his craft alongside seasoned actors, before joining the esteemed ensemble of the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
In 2002, Mädel made his television debut with a guest appearance in the series "Der Ermittler." This initial foray into the world of television was followed by a string of appearances in various series and films, including "Königskinder," "Bella Block," and "Tatort."
Mädel's breakthrough came in 2004, when he landed a leading role in the comedy series "Stromberg," starring alongside Christoph Maria Herbst. His portrayal of Berthold 'Ernie' Heisterkamp earned him widespread acclaim, leading to his own series, "Der kleine Mann," where he played the protagonist.
In 2008, Mädel took on a leading role in the crime series "Mord mit Aussicht," while also making guest appearances in various other shows. Two years later, the comedy series "Der Tatortreiniger" premiered, with Mädel starring as Heiko 'Schotty' Schotte. The series quickly gained a loyal following, earning Mädel two Grimme Awards in 2012 and 2013, as well as nominations for the German Television Award. He also won the German Comedy Award for Best Actor.
In addition to his on-screen success, Mädel is also a talented narrator, having lent his voice to numerous radio and audiobook productions.
