Biography

Biray Dalkiran was born in 1976 in Istanbul, Turkey. He pursued his undergraduate and graduate education at Beykent University's Cinema and Television department, and later earned his PhD at Marmara University's Radio and Television department.

Dalkiran began his career as a lecturer, teaching feature, television, and commercial film lessons at Istanbul University's Communications department, as well as director lessons at BSF Academy, from 2003 to 2004. During his student years, he participated in numerous film festivals, including the Golden Orange, San Francisco, Ziff, Afo, Avsa, Ankara, and more, and won awards for his short films.

As a director, Dalkiran has made eight feature films to date. His first film, the horror movie "Araf" (Abortion),was a commercial success in Turkey and was distributed internationally by Path Finder Pictures. The film was also the first Turkish horror movie to be accepted into the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival competition section.

Dalkiran's second feature film, "Cennet" (Heaven),was screened at various film festivals worldwide, including Hungary, China, America, Italy, Israel, and Turkey, and won awards for its fairy tale narration and visual effects. His third feature film, "Cehennem 3D" (Hell 3D),was a horror-thriller and the first 3D movie produced in Turkey.

In 2012, Dalkiran directed a comedy film, "Bana Bir Soygun Yaz" (Write Me A Robbery). In 2014, he directed three romantic movies: "Peri Masali" (Fairy Tale),"Meleklerin Mucizesi" (Miracle Of Angels),and "Seni Seviyorum Adamim" (I Love You Man). He was the writer, director, producer, and cinematographer of "Peri Masali", making him the youngest director in Turkey to have produced four films simultaneously.

Dalkiran has also directed several TV series, including the action and drama series "Gazi" (Ghazi) and the criminal series "Kanit" (Evidence),which ended its 100-episode run. Additionally, he has directed a documentary about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's last dance before his death, titled "Son Balo: Vals ve Zeybek" (The Last Dance: Valtz and Zeybek),which has been screened at various film festivals worldwide.

Throughout his career, Dalkiran has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Altin Portakal (Golden Orange),Avsa International Film Festival Best Short Film Award, Son Balo Vals ve Zeybek Documentary Award, Evos Angels Best Director Award, and more.
