Bill Thorpe, born William Thorpe, is a multifaceted American artist, exceling in both the realms of acting and singing. Growing up along the picturesque coast of New England, he spent his childhood surrounded by the soothing sounds of the ocean. This idyllic environment would later inspire his creative pursuits.
At the tender age of 14, Thorpe's ingenuity and resourcefulness led him to build his own sailboat using materials he could gather. A sudden squall and an oversized sail, however, cut his maiden voyage short when a massive rock damaged the hull. This experience would later influence his creative endeavors.
Thorpe's early foray into the world of theater began with designing and building sets for his local community theater. His passion for the stage soon led him to take on speaking roles in various films, including the Academy Award-winning "Mystic River," alongside notable actors such as Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn, Jennifer Lawrence, Mel Gibson, Sissy Spacek, David O. Russell, and Larry David.
As a singer, Thorpe boasts a legit baritone voice, having performed as a soloist in thirty-two U.S. states through American Artists Management of New York. He has also collaborated with the Cole Porter Musical and Literary Trusts, lending his voice to the CBS Television Network broadcast celebrating the Cole Porter centennial. Additionally, he represented the United States in a two-night international concert sponsored by the United Nations and the Peoples' Republic of China, performing before a sold-out audience of 36,000 in Shanghai.
Thorpe's impressive discography includes recordings with the Stuttgart Symphony, featuring songs from the musicals of Cole Porter and Lerner & Loewe. He has also appeared on National Public Radio, singing the role of Orpheus for the broadcast of "Orpheus and Euridice" on "The Spider's Web" series.
