Bill Dow is a renowned actor, director, and occasional writer with a diverse and extensive career in theatre, film, and television. With numerous credits to his name, he is a sought-after performer in the industry.
As Dr. Lee on Stargate SG-1 (1997),Dow brought to life the passionate and sometimes befuddled scientist who assists the warriors of Stargate Command. His portrayal of Russ Hathaway, the mayor of Vancouver, on Da Vinci's Inquest (1998) earned him critical acclaim.
Dow's extensive television credits include a wide range of characters in various genres. He played Charles Burks, Agent Mulder's old college chum, on The X-Files (1993),and Mr. Parkman, a teacher, on Pasadena (2001). He also appeared as Bob Fraser, the owner and bartender of "The Fraser Arms," on Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (1998).
In addition to his television work, Dow has appeared in several Movies of the Week, feature films, and guest star and recurring roles in various television series. Some of his notable film credits include Legends of the Fall (1994),Mr. Magoo (1997),Andre (1994),and Absolute Zero (2006).
As a theatre director, Dow has helmed several award-winning productions for the Vancouver Playhouse, including an innovative and moving production of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. He has also performed many lead roles, including David Mamet's Oleanna and Peter Shaffer's Equus, for which he won a Jessie award.
Dow's short film, The Alley, was nominated for several awards and was invited to the international short film festival in Siena, Italy. He is currently completing his M.A. in Liberal Studies at Simon Fraser University.
