Biography

Barton Yarborough's Early Life and Career

Born in the charming town of Goldthwaite, Texas, Barton Yarborough's life took an unconventional turn from a young age. He decided to run away from home to pursue a career in vaudeville, marking the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry.

The 1920s saw Yarborough transition to radio, where he made a name for himself with various roles. However, it was in 1932 that he landed his most iconic and long-running role as Cliff Barbour on the highly acclaimed drama One Man's Family. He continued to portray this character until his passing, making it a significant part of his legacy.

Throughout his career, Yarborough took on numerous notable radio roles, including Doc Long in I Love a Mystery in 1938. This role was particularly memorable, and it was adapted into a film in 1945. He also appeared in three I Love Mystery movies between 1945 and 1946.

In addition to his radio work, Yarborough made a successful transition to television. He starred as Sgt. Ben Romero in The Human Bomb, which was adapted from his earlier radio role. Unfortunately, he was only able to film two episodes before falling ill and passing away just four days later.

Despite his relatively short film career, Yarborough's impact on radio is undeniable. His memorable roles in various radio dramas and mysteries continue to be celebrated and remembered to this day.
