Bao Nguyen is a renowned Vietnamese American filmmaker whose impressive body of work has been showcased in esteemed outlets such as the New York Times, HBO, NBC, Vice, ARTE, and PBS. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional versatility, directing, producing, and shooting numerous short films that have garnered international recognition, premiering at prominent festivals and museums like the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian Institution.
Notably, his graduate thesis film, "Julian", garnered widespread acclaim, earning a CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Best Student Documentary Short at the Palm Springs ShortsFest, a Special Jury Prize at DOCNYC, and a nomination for an IDA Award. This outstanding achievement is a testament to his skill and dedication as a filmmaker.
Furthermore, Nguyen has also produced and cinematographed "Nuoc 2030", a feature narrative set in a near-future Vietnam, which opened the Panorama section of the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival and received the Tribeca Film Institute Sloan Filmmaker Award. His feature documentary directorial debut, "Live From New York", premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival and was broadcast nationally in prime time on NBC, preceding the 41st season premiere of Saturday Night Live.
