Arthur, a native New Yorker born in Manhattan, embarked on a career in the music industry as a Stage Lighting Designer in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Subsequently, he pursued his passion for architecture by studying in England and Italy, ultimately applying his knowledge to several architectural design projects in London.
Arthur's foray into the British film industry began in the mid-1980s as an assistant to renowned British Production Designers. His first notable projects were as part of Stuart Craig's team on the 1984 films Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan and Cal, followed by a collaboration with Ashetton Gorton on the 1985 film Revolution.
Arthur's production design career gained momentum in the years 1985-1995, during which he worked on numerous TV commercials for various directors, including the acclaimed Ridley Scott and David Fincher. This fruitful partnership would later extend to feature films, marking a significant milestone in Arthur's illustrious career.
