Artemis Anastasiadou is a multifaceted creative professional with a rich background in both writing and directing for the screen.
Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Anastasiadou's academic pursuits took her to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she earned a degree in Drama and Theater Arts.
Her thirst for knowledge and expertise in filmmaking led her to the University of Texas at Austin, where she furthered her education in Film Directing.
Throughout her career, Anastasiadou has established herself as a talented and accomplished director, with a vast array of award-winning short films under her belt.
Many of her short films have premiered in the United States and have been crafted in the English language, showcasing her versatility and adaptability as a filmmaker.
One of her most notable works is the short film "I am Mackenzie," which made its debut at SXSW 2019 and went on to win the prestigious Best Film Award for Texas Shorts.
Additionally, Anastasiadou received the Best Female Filmmaker Award in Greece for her outstanding work on "I am Mackenzie."
The film has been screened at over 100 international festivals, including the British Film Institute and the POFF Black Nights festival, solidifying its place as a standout in the world of independent cinema.
Beyond her work as a director, Anastasiadou has also shared her expertise with students at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Missouri at Columbia, serving as a valuable mentor and educator in the field of filmmaking.
Currently, Anastasiadou holds the position of Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies at the American College of Greece, where she continues to inspire and guide the next generation of filmmakers.
