April is a multifaceted individual, with a career spanning across the realms of acting, writing, and producing. She is a nominee for the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) and has made a significant impact in the film industry.
In 2012, April co-founded Mini Productions with her partner-in-crime, Sara Huxley. This venture has been a successful one, with their debut feature film, Rose, garnering attention and recognition. Rose, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival, was written by Matt Stokoe and starred Sophie Rundle alongside him. The film received a nomination for the Raindance Discovery Award at the 2020 BIFA's, alongside their partner, Sara Huxley.
April's upcoming feature, Embers, is set to be released in 2023 and is eagerly anticipated by fans and critics alike.
April's writing debut, Treacle, premiered at the BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival in 2019. In this film, she not only wrote but also starred in the title role. Her impressive work did not go unnoticed, as she was selected as one of six queer filmmakers for the BFI Network & BAFTA @ Flare Mentorship. She was mentored by the renowned BFI Vision Awardee, Cecilia Frugiuele.
Since then, April has continued to write and star in various films, including Just in Case and Do This for Me. Both of these films are collaborations with the Film and TV Charity and Raising Films.
In addition to her impressive film career, April is also the ambassador for Bipolar UK, using her platform to raise awareness and support for those affected by the condition.
