Anya's professional journey began with Working Title Films, where she worked under the guidance of Tim Bevan, producing music videos for renowned directors such as Nic Roeg, Mike Newell, and Derek Jarman.
After being sponsored for the BBC Drama Director's course, Anya made her debut on Channel 4 by directing the drama EYE CONTACT, starring Jason Isaacs. This marked the beginning of her illustrious career in television, as she went on to direct numerous episodes of prime-time drama and the BBC TV movie TWO GOLDEN BALLS, starring Kim Cattrall and Leslie Phillips.
Her next notable project was co-originating and leading the direction of the acclaimed ITV series LIVERPOOL 1, which topped the autumn schedule for two seasons. Anya's success with LIVERPOOL 1 led to her co-creating and directing the Channel 4 drama NY-LON, a seven-hour transatlantic love story set in London and New York, starring Rashida Jones.
In addition to her television work, Anya has also made a name for herself in the world of short films. Her short PERFECT, starring Stephen Moyer, tells the story of a neurotic estate agent who goes on a killing spree and has won numerous international awards. Another short film, JEALOUSY, starring Paul Nicholls, premiered at the Palm Springs, Austin, and London film festivals.
A GIRL OF NO IMPORTANCE, filmed in medieval Rome, is a powerful drama that tackles the issue of sex trafficking and has received widespread critical acclaim, winning numerous awards.
Most recently, Anya directed MOVING ON, a series of daytime plays set in contemporary Britain, created by Jimmy McGovern, for the BBC.
