Antti Luusuaniemi's journey in the world of entertainment began in Tammisaari, a predominantly Swedish-speaking city in southern Finland, where he was born. Following his graduation from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki in 2004, he embarked on a distinguished career in the Finnish National Theatre, where he tackled demanding roles, including the iconic title character in Chekhov's 'Platonov' at the tender age of 29.
Throughout his tenure at the Finnish National Theatre, Luusuaniemi took on numerous significant roles on the main stage, laying the groundwork for his successful transition to the screen. He has since appeared in numerous award-winning films and television series in Finland and abroad, collaborating with esteemed professionals such as Rade Serbedzija, with whom he worked on 'The Liberation of Skopje' (2016),and Oscar-nominated director Selma Vilhunen on her critically acclaimed film 'Little Wing', which premiered at TIFF in 2016.
In 2015, Luusuaniemi received a nomination for Best Performance in a Drama for his role in 'A Brat' at the Los Angeles NewFilmmakers Best of 2014 Award. Additionally, he co-created and starred in the comedy TV-series 'Wingman' for The Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle) in 2016, alongside his co-writer Kari Ketonen.
Luusuaniemi's impressive filmography continues to grow, with lead roles in two feature films released in 2017: 'Starboy' directed by Visa Koiso-Kanttila and 'The Sixth Time' directed by Maarit Lalli. His proficiency in languages, including English, Swedish, and Finnish, has undoubtedly contributed to his versatility and success in the industry.
