Anthony Spinelli was a renowned director of adult films, particularly during the "Golden Age of Porn" which spanned from approximately 1970 to 1984. Born on February 21, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, Spinelli was the younger brother of character actor Jack Weston, and later adopted the name Anthony Spinelli, inspired by his desired porn director Mitch Spinelli.
Prior to his transition to the adult film industry, Spinelli had a brief career as a minor character actor, appearing primarily on television from 1949 to 1970. He then made the leap to pornography in the 1970s, continuing to act in films, albeit in smaller roles, not as a sex performer.
Throughout his illustrious career, Spinelli directed numerous iconic adult films, including the classics Talk Dirty to Me (1980),Nothing to Hide (1981),and Reel People (1984),in which he also starred as the host and narrator. His exceptional directing skills earned him prestigious awards, such as the AVN Award for Best Director (Film) for It's Called 'Murder', Baby (1982) in 1985 and the AVN Award for Best Director (Video) for The Party (1992) in 1993.
Throughout his illustrious career, Spinelli helmed an impressive 111 adult films and produced 49 titles. Sadly, Anthony Spinelli passed away on May 29, 2000, at the age of 73.
