Biography

Anna Gunn, a talented actress, has made a significant impact in the entertainment industry through her versatile performances on stage and screen.

Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Anna grew up in a family that relocated from Cleveland, Ohio to the Southwest in the late 1970s. She discovered her passion for acting in a drama class at the Santa Fe Preparatory School and was fortunate to study with two renowned teachers from the Actor's Studio as a teenager.

Anna continued her education at Northwestern University's prestigious theatre department, where she won a coveted scholarship award in her junior year. During her time at Northwestern, she studied abroad for a semester at the British American Drama Academy and performed in the school's final project at the Royal Court Theatre in London.

Throughout her career, Anna has effortlessly transitioned between television, film, and theatre. Her breakout role came in 2004 when she played Martha Bullock on HBO's critically acclaimed series Deadwood, earning a SAG nomination for Best Ensemble Cast in 2006. Her association with Deadwood creator David Milch began earlier when she worked with him on NYPD Blue, delivering a memorable performance as Kimmy, a junkie longing to escape New York to swim with the dolphins.

Anna's extensive television credits include starring roles in several made-for-TV movies and major guest-starring appearances on shows such as Six Feet Under, ER, Boston Legal, Law & Order, and Seinfeld.

On the big screen, Anna has appeared in films like Nobody's Baby, Enemy of the State, Without Evidence, and Red State. Her upcoming films include Little Red Wagon and Sassy Pants, for which she received a nomination at the 2012 Milan Film Festival for Best Supporting Actress.

As a stage actress, Anna has received critical acclaim for her performances in productions like Time Stands Still, Measure for Measure, The Rehearsal, and Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie. She made her Broadway debut in The Rehearsal and has performed on the LA circuit, including the 1995 American premiere of Hysteria at the Mark Taper Forum.

Anna's most notable role to date is Skyler White on AMC's Emmy award-winning series Breaking Bad, for which she received a 2012 Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Nomination and won in 2013-2014. The show's cast received numerous awards and nominations, including a Peabody Award, AFI Awards, and Golden Globe Awards.
