Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, a German-born Jewish cellist of remarkable resilience and fortitude, emerged as a survivor of the Women's Orchestra in Auschwitz, a testament to the unyielding human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity. Born with a passion for music, Anita's journey took a devastating turn when she and her sister Renate were forcibly separated and sent to Auschwitz on separate prison trains in December 1943.
