Angus Young, a Scottish-born musician, came into the world on March 31, 1955, in Glasgow, Scotland. During his school years, Angus struggled to find academic enthusiasm, with the exception of art, which offered him a sense of creative freedom. He eventually left school at the age of 15 to pursue a career in the printing industry, working for a soft porn magazine called Ribald.
However, Angus's true passion lay elsewhere. For a year prior to leaving school, he had been intensely practicing guitar, jamming with friends, and even playing at school dances. At the age of 11, Angus began to explore the world of music through trial and error, learning by himself rather than through formal instruction.
As his older brother Malcolm Young began to formulate plans for his new band, Angus was busy developing his unique stage presence. His seemingly unpredictable and unbridled energy on stage, characterized by his signature duckwalk, has always come naturally to him. Many of these signature gestures, such as his duckwalk, were born out of accidents.
One fateful night, while playing with his pre-AC/DC band Tantrum, Angus's performance was met with utter silence. In an attempt to salvage the situation, he began to run across the stage, tripping over the guitar lead. In a moment of desperation, he made it look like a death scene, screaming and wailing from the guitar. To his surprise, this bizarre display of energy received the only applause of the night. Angus shared this story with his brother, and Malcolm Young asked him to join the band he was assembling.
