Director Angga Dwimas Sasongko is a prominent figure in Indonesian cinema, renowned for his depiction of contemporary urban Indonesia through his award-winning films. In 2008, he established his own film production company, Visinema Pictures, which has since produced numerous outstanding movies. Together with his wife, Anggia Kharisma, as a producer, Sasongko has garnered many accolades for his work.
One of their early projects was the 2014 film We Are Moluccans, which tells the story of a former soccer player who endeavors to save the children in his village from religious conflict in Ambon. The movie received the Citra Award for Best Picture at the 2014 Indonesian Film Festival (IFF),making Sasongko the youngest producer to win such an award at the time. In recent years, his children's movie Nussa won Best Animation at IFF, building on its earlier success as the Best Short Animation at the 2019 IFF when it was initially released as a web series.
Sasongko's film Letters from Prague (2016) was Indonesia's official entry for the Academy Awards, and he was also the first Indonesian director to collaborate with Fox International Production for his movie 212 Warrior (2018) in 2018.
Under Visinema, Sasongko has launched several initiatives to support Indonesian filmmakers and provide access to their work. In recent years, he started a pay-per-view movie platform called Bioskop Online, which has gained over 700,000 subscribers. Additionally, he founded VCampus, an e-learning platform around 2019, to offer more content and discussion around filmmaking.
