Biography

Angelo Rossitto, a diminutive actor standing at only 2 feet 11 inches tall, was a highly sought-after talent in Hollywood, appearing in over 70 feature films between 1927 and 1987.

Born in February 1908 in Omaha, Nebraska, Rossitto began his acting career in silent films, sharing the screen with legendary stars such as Lon Chaney and John Barrymore.

Throughout his extensive career, Rossitto frequently appeared alongside Bela Lugosi in villainous roles and even served as a stunt double for Shirley Temple.

As an actor, Rossitto portrayed a wide range of characters, including dwarfs, midgets, gnomes, pygmies, aliens, and monsters, in films that spanned the spectrum from woeful to wonderful.

One of his most notable roles was as a circus member in the highly controversial film Freaks (1932),as well as his portrayal of "Little Moe," a shoeshine man and street informer, in the police drama TV series Baretta (1975).

Later in his career, at the age of 77 and nearly blind, Rossitto co-starred as the megalomaniacal scientist "Master Blaster" in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985).
