Angela Means is a multifaceted American entrepreneur, former actress, model, and comedian who has made a lasting impact in the entertainment industry. Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, and raised in Midland, Michigan, on a farm, Means' early life laid the foundation for her future success.
At the age of 24, Means began her career as a model in Atlanta, Georgia, and soon transitioned to stand-up comedy, performing in nightclubs by the early 1990s. Her talent and dedication led her to appear on notable stages such as the Comedy Act Theater, Def Comedy Jam, and Showtime at the Apollo.
Means' breakthrough role came in 1995 when she played Felisha in the cult classic film Friday, alongside Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. Her impressive performance in the film led to further opportunities, including roles in House Party 3 (1994) and the popular children's sitcom Cousin Skeeter (1998-2001).
In addition to her acting career, Means has also been a comedian, appearing on various television shows such as In Living Color and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Her versatility and charisma have made her a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
In 1994, Means auditioned for the roles of Veda Pratt in House Party 3 and Felisha in Friday, which marked the beginning of her journey as a professional actress. After the release of Friday, Means and her boyfriend, Brad Kaaya, welcomed their son, Brad Kaaya Jr., and she began to step back from acting and comedy to focus on raising her child as a stay-at-home mother.
Although she took a hiatus from the entertainment industry, Means continued to make cameo appearances in films such as The Cherokee Kid (1996) and Sprung (1997). She then auditioned for a part on the Nickelodeon show Cousin Skeeter, playing the role of Aunt Vanessa, which became a huge success and ran until 2001.
After Cousin Skeeter ended its run, Means decided to leave the entertainment industry and pursue other passions in life. She has since worked as an Operation Director for American Youth Football, a photographer, and is currently the owner of Jackfruit Cafe, a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles.
