Andrey Iskanov, born in 1976 in the city of Khabarovsk, Russia, embarked on a journey of artistic expression, initially studying in a medical institute, before discovering his true passion in photographing images.
With a keen eye and a deep interest in the field of advertising photography, Iskanov went on to receive the prestigious award for achievements in 1997. He has since showcased his work at numerous personal exhibitions in Russia and China, solidifying his reputation as a talented photographer.
As a multifaceted creative, Iskanov is not only a skilled photographer and cinematographer, but also a professional make-up artist and designer of special effects. His work has appeared in various newspapers, including "Arguments and the Facts" and "The Amur Meridian".
In addition to his work in the advertising industry, Iskanov has also created portfolios and provided photo training for domestic and foreign photomodels. His creative endeavors have extended to the realm of filmmaking, with two notable releases in 2003: "Nails" and "Visions of Suffering". The former is a social horror film that pays homage to the works of David Lynch and Shinya Tsukamoto, while the latter is a surreal, supernatural horror film that reflects the director's concept of "film-dream".
In 2008, Iskanov released "Philosophy of a Knife", a disturbing historical drama that explores the atrocities committed by Japanese Unit 731 against Chinese and Russian prisoners. The film was officially banned in Germany and all copies were confiscated.
Iskanov's most recent feature, "Ingression", premiered in the BUT Underground and Trash Film Festival in the Netherlands and received the White Lady award at the HOFF festival in Estonia.
