Andrew Rein was born in the bustling metropolis of New York City, but his childhood was spent in the charming town of Charlottesville, Virginia. This unique blend of urban and rural influences likely shaped his artistic inclinations, as he went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from Duke University. Rein's academic endeavors continued with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the prestigious American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
Rein's professional career has seen him take the stage in numerous Off-Broadway productions, including "Jericho" by Jack Canfora, "Acts of Love," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream." He has also appeared in various regional productions, such as "The Source" at NJ Rep, "THIS" at Theaterworks Hartford, "Around the World in 80 Days" and "Bloody Blackbeard" at Triad Stage, and "Mojo" at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, among many others.
In 2016, Rein received the esteemed Webby Award for Best Writing, Online Film and Video for The Small Time (2015),a series he co-created and co-wrote with Jack Canfora. The series, which stars Rein as struggling literary agent Ben Bernstein, also features Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker as Ben's self-help author parents. The show's success was marked by numerous awards and nominations, including Gold at the D.C. Webfest, Best Webseries at Blackbird Film Festival, and an official selection of the 2016 New York Television Festival's Independent Pilot Competition.
Rein's television credits include a range of shows, including Power, Luke Cage, Odd Mom Out, Gossip Girl, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Law & Order, as well as numerous commercials. His film credits include 39 and a Half, Remains, Ménage à trois, and Bobby G. Can't Swim.
Currently, Rein resides in New York with his wife and daughter, where he continues to pursue his passion for the arts.
