Ana Zins was born and raised in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas, where she was influenced by her multicultural heritage. Her mother hails from Spain, while her American-born father's family has a rich background of English, Dutch, and Lebanese roots. With a strong passion for the film industry, Ms. Zins began her career by working at New Line Cinema and later at Regent Entertainment, where she was involved in the development, production, and distribution of independent feature and television films.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Ms. Zins dedicated three years of her life to volunteering as a festival screener for the Independent Filmmakers Project (IFP) and the American Film Institute (AFI) programming departments. Her dedication to her craft led her to study Filmmaking at the prestigious New York Film Academy, and she even participated in the Women in Film Directing Mentorship Program in 2005.
Ms. Zins's impressive portfolio includes two short films: "Bubbles," a children's comedy that premiered on Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett's "On The Lot" website, and had its theatrical premiere at the Reel Women International Film Festival in Hollywood in 2007; and "Getting Gretta," a teen romantic comedy that premiered at the Reel Women International Film Festival in 2006 and was an official selection of the Broad Humor International Film Festival in Venice, California.
As the founder of Mighty Girl Productions, Ms. Zins continues to develop her feature film and television projects, and is a proud member of Women in Film. In her personal life, she is married to Charles E. Ruben, and has an adult daughter from a previous marriage. Tragedy struck when her 4-year-old son passed away in a car accident in rural Indiana, and later, her younger sister was also taken from her. Despite these challenges, Ms. Zins remains strong and continues to pursue her passions, including her work with her younger brother, Michael "Gooch," who is a member of the local 44 and builds sets for films and television in Los Angeles.
