Amy Frederica Brenneman was born in the charming town of New London, Connecticut, to a remarkable mother, Frederica Shoenfield, a respected judge in the Connecticut State Superior Court, and a devoted father, Russell Langdon Brenneman, Jr., a passionate environmental lawyer. Frederica, Amy's mother, made history as one of the first women to graduate from the esteemed Harvard University. Following in her mother's footsteps, Amy also became a Harvard alumna, where she majored in comparative religion and expanded her cultural horizons by spending a semester studying sacred dances in the exotic country of Nepal. During her collegiate years, Amy co-founded the Cornerstone Theater Company, a groundbreaking production company that brings classic performances to small towns and fosters community involvement through participatory theater. After five years of touring, Amy relocated to New York City, where she pursued a career in education, teaching in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn. Her journey in the entertainment industry began in 1992, when she landed her first television role.
