Amanda Jane Stern, a multifaceted creative force from New York City, embarked on her acting journey at the tender age of nine when she landed the role of a Brownie Scout girl reciting Shakespearean lines in the offbeat comedy "Martin and Orloff". As she continued to hone her craft throughout her childhood and teenage years, she developed a passion for the art of acting that would remain with her throughout her life.
However, Stern's path took an unexpected turn when she decided to pursue higher education at Brandeis University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film, Television and Interactive Media and Theater Arts. During her time at Brandeis, she discovered a new passion for writing and directing, and her senior thesis, "Coerced: A Documentary Play", caught the attention of NPR. This powerful play tells the poignant story of a teenage girl who was illegally interrogated by the police and coerced into confessing to a murder she did not commit.
Upon graduating, Stern dove headfirst back into the entertainment industry, securing a supporting role in the Lifetime TV movie "Amish Witches: The True Story of Holmes County" and directing the 9-episode musical-comedy web series "In Retrospect". Her impressive range and versatility continued to shine as she wrote, produced, and starred in the erotic thriller "Perfectly Good Moment". This thought-provoking film explores the toxic relationship between 27-year-old Ruby and 42-year-old David, featuring Broadway's Stephen Carlile and directed by Lauren Greenhall in her narrative feature film debut.
