Biography

Alice Perman is a renowned film-maker with a remarkable career spanning television and film. Her most recent endeavor as a Series Director is the critically-acclaimed "Picasso: The Beauty And The Beast" (2023) for the BBC, a testament to her exceptional skill and dedication to her craft.

Throughout her illustrious career, Alice's productions have garnered numerous accolades, including two BAFTA nominations. Her documentary series "Protecting Our Parents" (2014),which shed light on the older adult care system, was not only nominated for a BAFTA but also received nods from the RTS and Broadcast Awards. Her work on "Thatcher: A Very British Revolution" (2019) earned her a BAFTA nomination as well, in addition to being recognized with a Grierson Award and a British Press Guild Award.

Alice has had the privilege of collaborating with some of the industry's most talented individuals, including Ronan Bennett, Antonia Bird, and Finola Dwyer, with whom she co-wrote the international Emmy-nominated drama "The Hamburg Cell" (2004) for Film 4. As a producer of feature documentaries, she has worked alongside Oscar-winning filmmaker Vikram Jayanti and Emmy-winning director Greg Barker. Her experience as an Executive Producer has yielded critically acclaimed doc-drama series, such as "Murder In The Carpark" (2020),which explored the murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan for Channel 4 Television.

Alice's remarkable ability to combine original journalism, powerful human stories, and visual flair has earned her a reputation for creating impactful and thought-provoking content. Her passion lies in giving a platform to underrepresented voices, often those affected by social injustice.

One of her most notable documentaries is "Breaking The Silence: Britain's Adoption Scandal" (2016),which prompted an apology from the head of the Catholic Church in the UK, receiving widespread international coverage. Her documentary "Working With Weinstein" (2018),which explored the abuse of women in the UK film industry by Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, made headlines in every major British newspaper, as well as in Deadline, Variety, and the Washington Post.
