Ali Saam was born in Tehran, Iran, where he developed a fascination with characters such as Batman and Zorro, as well as Western films and television shows. His interest in these genres laid the foundation for his future pursuits in the entertainment industry.
As he grew older, Ali Saam made the decision to continue his education abroad, relocating to the United States in the late 1970s. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS),and later moved to Los Angeles to pursue his passion for acting.
Ali Saam's journey in the entertainment industry began with his training at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Theatre, where he honed his craft under the guidance of renowned instructor, Arthur Mendoza. His debut in theater came with the lead role of Tony in "The Big Picture," directed by Penny Johnson.
In addition to his work in theater, Ali Saam also made his film debut with a supporting role as Joseph Dimarco, an Italian mobster, in "Redemption" (2002). He went on to perform in numerous plays, including Aaron Kozak's critically acclaimed and successful "The Birthday Boys," which premiered in Los Angeles in 2011 and later in Dallas.
Ali Saam's versatility as an actor has allowed him to take on a wide range of characters, from the sentimental transvestite Jasmine in "Jew Tales" (2005),to the thoughtful father of a teenage girl in "A Conversation to Remember" (2010). He also played the role of Jack, a mysterious homeless man, in the award-winning film "$lowdown" (2011),which he was also involved in writing and producing.
His performance in "$lowdown" earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the 4th Annual Noor Iranian Film Festival in Los Angeles. Ali Saam recently appeared in Ben Affleck's Best Picture Academy Award-winning film "Argo" (2012),where he played the role of Ali Khalkhali, the security head of the Revolutionary Guard in charge of finding the missing American diplomats.
