Alex R. Johnson is a multifaceted creative individual, boasting expertise as both a writer and a director.
His cinematic masterpiece, Two Step, garnered widespread critical acclaim upon its premiere at the prestigious SXSW festival in 2014. The film went on to receive the coveted New York Times Critic's Pick designation, as well as maintaining a pristine 100% Fresh rating on the esteemed Rotten Tomatoes platform.
In recent years, Johnson has been diligently working on an adaptation of Ernest Tidyman's iconic novel, Big Bucks, in collaboration with Pascal Pictures and Sony.
In 2016, his screenplay, Northeast Kingdom, was fortunate enough to be selected for the esteemed Black List. This notable achievement led to Paramount Pictures acquiring the rights to the project, with Platinum Dunes set to produce and Johnson slated to direct.
Prior to his success in writing and directing, Johnson honed his skills as a commercial and documentary producer in New York City. His professional journey began at the legendary Maysles Films, where he gained invaluable experience and expertise.
Johnson has also branched out into literary pursuits, recently completing his debut novel, Brooklyn Motto.
Currently, he resides and works in the charming Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn.
