Alex Mallari Jr was born in the Philippines, but his formative years were spent in Scarborough, Canada, where he learned the importance of hard work and dedication through his national success in Tae Kwon Do and competitive basketball.
As a young athlete, Alex's basketball career seemed destined for greatness, but an injury in his final year of high school forced him to reevaluate his plans. He decided to attend the Criminology program at the University of Toronto, with the goal of becoming an attorney one day.
However, his time in university was short-lived, as he soon found himself drawn back to his childhood dream of becoming an "action star". With no knowledge of the entertainment industry and no guidance, Alex took a leap of faith and dove headfirst into the unknown.
This decision led to some regrettable setbacks along the way, but Alex remained determined to find his own path and make his mark in the industry. He has since worked on a variety of prime-time television shows, including "Robocop", "The Strain", "Nikita", and "Beauty & The Beast".
Now, Alex has been given the opportunity to bring the character "Four", a strong and stoic warrior, to life on SyFy's upcoming hit series "Dark Matter". From his humble beginnings as a kid from Scarborough to becoming the action star he always dreamed of being, Alex Mallari Jr's journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination.
