Aleksey Poluyan, a renowned Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, gained widespread recognition for his captivating performance in the film Cargo 200 (2007).
Born on April 4, 1965, in Leningrad, Alexey Poluyan grew up in St. Petersburg.
After completing his high school education, he enrolled in a vocational school and earned the profession of a cook of the third level. However, his journey in the film industry began when he was invited by assistant director Dinara Asanova to appear in the film Patsany (1983),which he happened to stumble upon on the street.
Until 2007, Poluyan mostly played minor and episodic roles in films. It was not until the release of Cargo 200 (2007),where he portrayed the character of militia maniac Zhurov, that he gained widespread popularity.
Throughout his career, Poluyan worked in various theaters, including the Leningrad Theater of the Absurd and the Theater of Real Art.
In his personal life, Poluyan was married twice and had two daughters. His second wife was the daughter of actor Alexei Petrenko.
Tragically, Poluyan's life was cut short due to severe pancreatitis caused by alcohol abuse. He passed away on January 8, 2010, in the village of Yarovskina, which is approximately 250 km from St. Petersburg.
