Alejandro, originally from Mexico, is a renowned editor whose work has been featured on a variety of prominent platforms, including National Geographic, HBO Max, Al Jazeera, PBS, and Red Bull TV.
One of his most notable projects is the crowd-pleasing documentary "Science Fair", which tells the story of teenage student scientists competing in a science fair. The film was acquired by National Geographic and went on to earn the Festival Favorite Award at the Sundance Film Festival, as well as an Emmy in the Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary category.
Alejandro also edited "Maxima", a documentary that follows the story of an indigenous woman's battle to protect her land against a large gold mining corporation in the Peruvian Andes. The film earned numerous audience awards, including the Hot Docs Film Festival in Toronto.
Recently, Alejandro was an editor and co-producer on "Five Years North", a project that exposed the emotional impact of family separation and child labor on a young undocumented migrant from Guatemala trying to adapt to life in New York City. The film was awarded the Metropolis Prize at DOC NYC and named a finalist for the duPont-Columbia Awards.
Alejandro's other notable works include "Menudo: Forever Young" for HBO Max, "Undocumented in the Pandemic" for PBS' investigative series Frontline, and "The Naked Truth: Death by Fentanyl", which won the duPont-Columbia Award and offered a prescient look at the dangers posed by fentanyl in both legal and illegal drug markets.
In addition to his editing work, Alejandro has also served as an editing mentor for Film Independent's Global Media Makers' Documentary Track.
