Alan Reed Jr.

Noted for his versatility in television, Reed Jr. made appearances in several episodes of the iconic sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies, taking on the roles of beatniks and hippies. In one notable episode, the Clampett family extends a helping hand to a beatnik who has suffered an accident, after he becomes smitten with Ellie May as he drives by the Clampett estate. The storyline is revisited in subsequent episodes, as the family becomes embroiled in a battle to save the beatnik coffeehouse, which is threatened with eviction by Milburn Drysdale, who holds the deed. In a later development, Reed Jr. reprises his role in two episodes, "Robin Hood of Griffith Park" and "Robin Hood and the Sheriff", where he leads a group of hippies who cross paths with the Clampetts, fresh from their trip to England. As they stage their own version of Robin Hood in Griffith Park, even they are left bewildered by Granny's eccentric offer to smoke crawdads.
