Akara Amarttayakul's life in the United States began when he was just 11 years old. During his holidays spent back in his home country, he first developed a taste for the film industry. This early fascination led to his casting in Euthana Mukdasanit's Vithi Khonkla in 1991.
However, it was during the production of his second film, Mae Bia, a decade later, that Akara truly fell under the spell of the film-making industry and made the decision to take acting seriously. His breakthrough role was in the erotic film Mae Bia, where he played his first leading part in 2001.
Akara's next notable role was in Saving Private Tootsie, where he portrayed a soldier tasked with protecting a group of transvestites. Although overshadowed by the stars he was working alongside, this experience helped him grow as an actor.
In Jom Kamang Wej, Akara played a policeman who embarks on a mission to hunt down a notorious criminal with expertise in black magic. To outwit his target, he delves into the world of voodoo.
The King Maker, a Western production directed by Thai director Lek Kitiparaporn and produced by David Winters, is another notable project in Akara's filmography. This historical drama is based on a chapter of Thai history set in the Ayutthaya period and features many Thai actors. Akara plays Pan Bud Sri Thep, the lover of Thao Si Sudachan.
Prai Dhip, an adventure film, is another project Akara is currently working on. Additionally, he is currently shooting the new comedy film "Ruk Dong Dang", which may have a different title at the time of its release.
Akara's foray into television drama began with Mitr Chaibancha: Maya Cheewit, a biographical drama based on the life of Thai superstar Mitr Chaibancha. Unfortunately, the series was removed from the schedules before its broadcast. His second TV drama, Plai Tien, saw him share second billing with songstress Tata Young.
