Allison Joy Langer, a talented individual, was born in Columbus, Ohio, and later relocated to the San Fernando Valley, just outside of Los Angeles, at the tender age of five. She attended Granada Hills High School and initially joined an all-boys baseball team using her initials, a nickname that stuck with her throughout her life.
As she began her acting career, she was introduced to the renowned acting coach, Ernie Lively, who played a significant role in shaping her skills. She then landed roles on several television shows, including Drexell's Class, Coach, and The Wonder Years, before gaining international recognition for her portrayal of Rayanne Graff on the critically acclaimed series My So-Called Life.
Although the series was unfortunately canceled after just 19 episodes, Langer continued to pursue her acting career, taking on roles in several short-run series. In her personal life, she married Charles Peregrine Courtenay, a practicing attorney and British peer, son of the 18th Earl of Devon. When her husband succeeded his father as the 19th Earl of Devon, Langer became the Countess of Devon.
The couple had two children, and Langer took several years off to devote herself to her family. However, in 2011, she returned to acting and joined the cast of Private Practice. In January 2014, she made the permanent move to London with her husband and children, marking a new chapter in her life.
